Where does your AI program actually stand?

Most AI maturity questionnaires give you a colour-coded dashboard and a marketing email. This one gives you a clear maturity profile across nine production-relevant dimensions, a written insight per dimension, and a board-ready PDF you can bring to the next steering committee.

Why take it

Three things you walk away with

01

See exactly where you are

A clear maturity profile across nine dimensions — not a vague "you're emerging" verdict. Each dimension gets a level (None / Ad hoc / Established / Advanced) and a written reason.

02

Know what to do next

Every dimension comes with a specific next move — what to fix first, why, and what "good" looks like at the next level. Not a generic best-practices list.

03

Make the case internally

A board-ready PDF report you can drop into the next AI steering committee. Bring the conversation up from 'we should do AI' to 'here's the gap and the plan'.

What you'll be asked

Nine production-relevant dimensions

The dimensions are chosen because they are where AI programs actually fail in production — not because they sound good in a maturity model paper.

01

Security

Runtime protection, prompt injection defence, supply chain

02

Governance

Policy framework, decision rights, audit trails

03

Observability

Traces, cost attribution, quality scoring

04

Data

Retrieval infrastructure, embeddings, RAG production

05

Engineering

AI coding tools, AI-code governance, eval frameworks

06

Operations

Incident response, on-call, change management

07

Value & ROI

Outcome metrics, business case, attribution

08

Risk & Compliance

NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, sector regulation

09

Adoption & Change

Internal capability, training, change muscle

Question

How does your organisation protect AI systems from threats?

The goal: defences against prompt injection, jailbreak, and supply-chain compromise that hold up under adversarial pressure.

Insight · Next move

Consolidate fragmented protection

Per-application guardrails fragment as adoption scales — every team writes their own, and security posture varies widely across the org. The next step is consolidating onto a shared layer that gives security one place to set policy while application teams continue to ship independently.

You receive one of these pages for each of the nine dimensions you complete. Plus a cover page, an executive summary, and a top-gaps section to take to the next steering committee.

Who it's for

AI leaders who need a structured baseline

AI program leads, CIOs, CISOs, Heads of AI, and transformation directors who need a structured baseline before they argue for investment, scope a roadmap, or report progress to a board.

Use it before you

  • Pitch the next AI investment to the executive committee
  • Scope a roadmap with a delivery partner
  • Report AI progress to the board
  • Stand up an AI Council or governance framework

ASSESSMENT FAQ

Questions buyers ask before taking the assessment

Yes — it's free with sign-up. You create an Outpace AI account, complete the 27 structured questions, and download the board-ready PDF report at the end. We don't sell your data, gate the report behind a sales call, or charge for the assessment itself.

About 15 minutes if you have working knowledge of how AI is run in your organisation today. The questions are structured to be answerable without research — if you don't know the answer, that itself is signal about the dimension.

Only you and your nominated team. The assessment is stored in your Outpace AI account. Outpace AI's team does not review individual results unless you explicitly request a debrief. We use aggregate, anonymised patterns to improve the assessment over time — never individual data.

A maturity level (None / Ad hoc / Established / Advanced) for each of the nine dimensions, a written reason for that level, and a specific next move per dimension. The PDF is designed to be dropped into an AI steering committee or board pack with no editing.

Gartner and Forrester maturity models are excellent for strategic positioning, but they're typically authored as analyst frameworks rather than production checklists. The Outpace AI assessment is operational — every dimension corresponds to something you can build, run, or measure. It's designed by practitioners who run AI in production, not by analysts who survey it.

Sign-up is required to save your results and download the PDF report. The account itself is free and takes 30 seconds. We require sign-up so you can return to the assessment, share results with your team, and re-score later to see progress.

Yes — the PDF report is designed to be shared. We've seen clients drop it directly into an AI steering committee pack. Many CIOs and CTOs use the report as a structured talking document for their first internal conversation about AI maturity.

The assessment is globally relevant — it's grounded in NIST AI RMF and ISO 42001, which apply internationally. The Risk & Compliance dimension does map specifically to APRA CPS 230 and AUSTRAC guidance for Australian organisations, but the other eight dimensions are sector- and geography-neutral.

You get the PDF report immediately. If your results suggest Outpace AI's services could help, we may follow up with a single, light-touch email — but only if you've opted in. There's no high-pressure sales sequence. The report is yours to keep regardless of whether we ever speak.

The nine dimensions — Security, Governance, Observability, Data, Development, Operations, Value & ROI, Risk & Compliance, Adoption & Change — were selected because each is something that breaks in production if it isn't deliberate. They're informed by NIST AI RMF and ISO 42001, but the framing is shaped by what Outpace AI's practitioners see failing on actual client engagements, not by what looks tidy in a slide.
